A warm greeting to everyone! I hope you are all in reasonably good health. That is one of the desires of God, expressed through the apostle John, in III John 3.
But brethern, as we see from various news
reports, some people will resort to
rather extreme measures to have good
health and/or perhaps longer lives. Some have
gone to the extent of having new hearts, both
from deceased bodies, or lately, mechanical
ones. It's almost as if they are attempting
to achieve immortality in the flesh! I'm
afraid the sad fact is, that this isn't
working, nor will it ever work
I know that some of you have experienced or
are experiencing heart problems at this time.
Some have had to have various surgical or
medical procedures to help you to have a more
normal life And I suppose that some of you
have been helped by these methods. My own
brother has had by-pass surgery, to hopefully
give him a better lifestyle. So has my wife's
employer (who developed a blood clot,
following her surgery). It's getting to be
"routine procedure", by the medical
profession in the past few years, but some
are beginning to question whether there are
too many or unecessary operations
being performed, even among their own
My subject for today is about
God's Heart Transplants that are
guaranteed to work. In fact they will be so
perfect, they will insure eternal life
! I'll be talking today about that
"transplant" that can only be
performed by God alone. In fact, it is a
miracle that must be performed before we can
have immortality or eternal life! So let's
talk about our 'hearts" brethern, our
According to "Cruden's Complete
Concordance", under the subject "
heart", it has this to say: "The
word heart is used in Scriptures as the seat
of life or strenth; hence it means mind,
soul, spirit, or one's entire emotional nature
and understanding. It is also used as the
center or inner part of a thing." Now
that covers about everything as far as to the
way we think, and for that matter, the
way we are. So, how are we, carnally or
physically speaking? You know the world views
human beings as being basically "good
" in their nature. It seems to shock them
when they encounter some horrific "evil
" event such as that which occurred on
Sept. 11, 2001. It's with unbelief or
disbelief that the human mind could conceive
of or contrive such a "wicked" or
"evil" disaster against other human
beings. But what does God say about the human
"heart" or mind?
Jeremiah 17: 9 "The heart is
deceitful above all things, and desperately
wicked: who can know it? 10. I the LORD
search the heart, I try the reins, even to
give to every man according to his ways, and
according to the fruit of his doings."
This certainly does not square with
the ideas of men, especially the psychologists
and psychiatrists that assume that human
nature is intrinsically good. Other Scriptures
bear out the fact that our "natural
" tendency is to lean toward evil. In
fact, God thought about totally destroying
the human race at one time, because it had
become so degenerate and evil!
Gen. 6: 5 "And God saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thought of his
heart was only evil continually. 6.
And it repented the LORD (He was sorry) that
He had made man on the earth, and it grieved
Him at His heart. 7. And the LORD said, I
will destroy man whom I have created from the
face of the earth; both man, and beast,, and
the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air;
for it repenteth Me that I have made them.
" Jesus Christ alluded to these
wicked times, when He was prophesying about
the way it would be in our day, the
times in which we are living in right now!
Mt. 24:37 "But as the days of
Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son
of man be."
So "human nature", the heart has not
changed, but probably has increased in it's
evil intent. Notice again, in speaking of our
present time, the last days :
I Timothy 3:1"Now the Spirit
speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed
to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their
concience seared with a hot iron;"
II Timothy 3:1 "This know also,
that in the the last days perilous times shall
come. 2. For men shall be lovers of their own
selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, 3. Without natural
affection, trucebreakers, false accusers,
incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who
are good; 4. Traitors, heady, highminded,
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5. Having a form of godliness, but denying the
power therof: from such turn away."
Be honest! Ask yourself, do these things
sound like the times we are living in?!
Friends, here is the human "heart"
depicted in it's unconverted state
and influenced by demons! The Apostle paul
saw this in his Epistle to the Church in
Galations 5:19 "Now the works of
the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornicatiion, uncleanness,
lasciviousness, 20. Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, varience, emulations, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies, 21. Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have told you
in time past, that they which do such things
shall not inheirit the kingdom of God."
Let's go back to the O.T. for a couple of
other Scriptures that plainly show the "
heart" in it's carnal or
Deuteronomy 5:29 "O that there
were such an heart in them, that they would
fear me, and kep all my commandments always,
that it might be well with them, and with
their children for ever."; 29: 4 "
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to
So we see that O.T. did not have the "
heart" to obey God's Laws and to walk in
His ways. So what does He tell them to do
? (And remember this was His command to
O.T. Israel, and applies to His people today
under the New Covenant as we shall see later.)
Deuteronomy 10:12 "And now,
Israel, What does the LORD your God require of
thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk
in all His ways, and to love Him, and to
serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and
with all your soul, 13. To keep the
commandments of the LORD, and His statutes,
which I command thee this day for thy good.
16. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of
your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
Just how does one "circumcise the
foreskin of your heart,-"? Here we need
to understand the meaning of the word "
circumcise". It means to "cut off,
away, around", (or to remove,
as in an operation, it appears to me.)
If you'll remember, Abraham was told to
physically circumcise himself and his male
decendants as a "token" or sign of
the "covenant" between God and him
in Genesis 17:9-13.
This was merely a type of the "
circumcision" of the "heart"
that God requires of those who covenant with
Him, upon repentance, acceptance of Jesus
Christ as Savior, receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit and begin to go the way that leads
This Requires a Spiritual Heart Transplant
So, according to the Scriptures we have read
concerning the "heart", we see that
we have that same "evil nature" as
others. We are no better than anyone else--we
must have that "circumcision", that
removal of the old heart and have it replaced
with a new heart! In other words, we need a
Spiritual heart transplant by the
Great God! You can probably understand the
terminology of a "heart transplant"
better than "circumcision of the heart
" in our modern use of the English
language. but brethern, can you see that,
basically, it is one and the same thing. We
must be rid of our evil, carnal, human
nature, if we are to have eternal life! Now
let's read how God is going to achieve this
in His marvellous Plan for mankind with a
Jeremiah 31:33 "But this shall
be the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel; After those days, saith the
LORD, I will put My law in heir inward parts,
and write it in their hearts; and I
will be their God, and they shall be my
people." Continueing on, after
God had allowed Israel to go into captivity,
for their sins, as He will again, to modern
Israel, the U.S. and Britain, primarily:
Chapter 30:7). Now,
we see in,
Chapter 32:37 "Behold, I will
gather them out of all countries, whither I
have driven them in mine anger, and in my
fury, and in great wrath (great tribulation);
and I will bring them again unto this place,
and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38.
And they shall be my people, and I will be
their God. 39. And I will give them one
heart, and one way, that they may fear
Me for ever, for the good of them, and of
their children after them. 40. And I will
make an everlasting covenant with them, that I
will not turn away from them, to do them
good; but I will put My fear in their
hearts, that they shall not depart from
Now, they have had an exchange, a
replacement of their hearts!!
Ezekiel 11:19 "And I will give
them one heart, and I will put a new
spirit within you; and I will take
the stony heart out of their flesh, and I will
give them an heart of flesh. (Here is
that Spiritual transplant!) 20. That they may
walk in My statutes, and keep Mine
ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My
people, and I will be their God. 21. But as
for them whose heart (uncircumcised)
walketh after the heart of their detestable
things and their abominations, I will
recompence their way (the carnal way)
upon their own heads, saith the LORD
Let's move on to the N.T., where the same
theme is found.
Heb.8:10 "For this is the
covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I
will put My laws in their mind, and write
them in their hearts:--"
Notice that under the new covenant, God's
Laws are written in our hearts. This could
not be possible with the old, stubborn, stony
heart, but with a new pliable, workable,
teachable, yielded heart. So this requires an
operation by God to replace that old "
heart" with a brand new one that
is subject to His Laws and Way of life. This
operation is referred to or likened to a
circumcision of the heart, a cutting away
or removing of our former self, our
attitudes, our way of thinking.
Romans 2:29 "But he is a Jew,
which is one inwardly; and circumcision is
that of the heart, in the spirit, and not
in the letter;---"; Colosians
2:11-13 "In whom also ye are circumcised
with the circuncision made without hands, in
putting off the body of the sins of the flesh
by the circumcision of Christ."
So you see we are to have faith in this
operation of God, this circumcision of Christ.
We've been given a new heart, brethern, so
what kind of changes should this produce?
Much in every way, brethern!!
We should have a forgiving heart.
Matthew 18:35 "So likewise
shall my heavenly Father do also unto you,
if ye from the heart forgive not
every one his brother their trespasses.
" (Read also 6:14,15)
We'll have a pure or a clean heart:
Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the
pure in heart: for they shall see God
"; Psalms 73:1 "Truly God is
good to Israel, even to
those who are of a clean heart."
David prayed for God to
"create in me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a right spirit within me:
(Psalms 51:10). To have this kind
of mind, we must follow this admonition
in Phil.4:5 "Let this mind
be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
" (Read Chap. 4:7,8)
We are to have a thankful heart
Colosians 2:12 "Giving
thanks unto the Father, which hath made us
meet to be partakers of the inheritance
of the saints in light"; I
Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything
give thanks: for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Psalms 92:1 "It is good
thing to give thanks unto the LORD,---
"; Chapter 140:13 "Surely the
righteous shall give thanks unto thy
name:---" David's Psalms are
filled with thanksgiving to God. In fact,
the whole Bible is replete with commands
and encouragement to be thankful!
We need a wise and understanding heart.
We live in a very evil world, as you know. Christ said we are to be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves"( Matthew 10:16). ie. know how to conduct ourselves as Christians in dealing with people of this world, being fair and harmless, yet being careful not to be always being taken advantage of. We'll need wisdom making judgments in The World Tomorrow! I Corinthians 6:2 "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?---";
James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally; and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
Brethern, we could spend the rest of the day expounding and referring to various attributes of the "new heart" we've been given, and that all of mankind, will some day, eventually be offered that heart Look up Scriptures showing that we are to have a joyous heart, a glad heart, a merry heart, a heart that praises God and many, many more things of the heart.
I suppose it can be, and must be summed up, in the following:
WE MUST HAVE GOD'S HEART TRANSPLANT! If we have had this performed, WE'LL HAVE A COMPLETE AND TOTALLY NEW SPIRIT BODY!
