Christians And The Coming Tribulation

Can you imagine a time when thousands of Christians in the United States and Britain will be martyred, and possibly in the not too distant future? Can you imagine decress being issued by a foreign government, pronouncing the death sentence upon good and upright and sincere people for no other crime than believing in the plain Word of God – and holding fast to the commands of Jesus Christ?

Here in the 21st century – it would seem absurd or impossible! Who would ever want to martyr Christians again? Who? Just listen to the rhetoric of some of the protestors about who caused Hillary Clinton to lose the election!

Yet it is and event that is prophesied to happen.

Today, our schools are turning out ignorant students, atheists, young people who don’t know the history this great nation. Some cannot tell you what the capital of the United States is, and where it is located. They are ignorant of the past and certainly they do not know anything of the future, nor do they want to know.

In the 20th century alone, millions of people were tortured, and brutally murdered by communist dictators. All this occurred in the enlightened age of the 20th century.

What did the Nazis do just a little over 70 years ago? They brutally murdered millions of Jews, Gypies and other people they declared undesirable, not fit to live? And what about the Muslim world – they have tortured and killed thousands of their own people in this 21st century.

Why can’t we wake up and see what is really going on in this modern world today? The handwriting for America and Britain is on the wall, if we don’t wake up, if it isn’t too late already.

The prophet Daniel describes it this way:  “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and at that time the people shall be delivered every one that shall be found written in the book” (Dan. 12:1).

During the Dark and Middle Ages, faithful, obedient Christians were martyred by the State in the name of religion.  That was the first martyrdom, but notice the prophecy about that martyrdom and a prophecy written centuries before it occurred.

The Apostle John records, “and when He (Christ) has opened the 5th seal” (Rev. 6:9-11). A seal covered part of the book which Jesus has in His hand, and in that book this prophecy was originally written. “I saw under the altar, the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

“And they cried with a loud voice, saying, how long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”

Those who were killed during the Dark and Middles Ages for obeying the Word of God – “that they should rest for a little while, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”

What you just read is a prophecy for our day. There has never been a martyrdom of thousands of Christians since the Middle Ages. Yet here is a prophecy of another martyrdom, yet to occur in which thousands more would be killed as they were in the Middle Ages.

These people in the past were killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony, the gospel message of the coming Kingdom of God which they held. These people were put to death for no greater crime than believing the Bible and holding fast to the testimony of Jesus Christ.

History has recorded this mass martyrdom, at least 50 million were put to death by the Roman Empire. In the name of religion they were declared anathema from Christ – accursed of Christ, heretics and were given the death sentence.

Now, we can’t forget what else John saw in vison: “they should rest yet for a little season, until – until what? Their fellow servants also and their brethren should be killed as they were.

In other words, during the coming Great Tribulation, another martyrdom is coming. This coming martyrdom that is coming is like the last one, only a 1000 times more terrible in intensity.

It’s hard to believe but Christians are going to be put to death in the name of religion, but the State will be the power that actually kills us.

Now, notice what the founder of Christianity – Jesus Christ said: “Yea, the hour comes that whosoever kills you shall think that he offered service to God. And these things will they do unto you because they have not known the Father nor me” (John 16:2-3).

This coming martyrdom will be done as a supposed act of service to God. Deceived people, professing Christianity, murdering faithful Christians whom they call heretics, this is the persecution that’s prophesied.

We are living in the days which the Apostle Paul warned us of: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves, teachers, having itching ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables” (II Tim. 4:3-4).

It is a time when the people want their preachers to hold back the truth and to preach the soft and smooth things instead: “Now go, write it before the people on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever (this is for our day as an everlasting witness), for it is a rebellious people, lying children, children that refuse to hear the law of the Lord; that say to the seers (or ministers) prophesy not unto us right things,, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceit (or delusions)”( Isa. 30:8-10).

The vast majority are deceived. Satan, the invisible spirit ruler of this present evil age has his ministers in the pulpits masquerading as the ministers of Jesus Christ (II Cor. 11:14). These people fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, they pose as ministers of Jesus Christ, but they are unwittingly the ministers of Satan, who is the real author of religious persecution, the real instigator of the coming Great Tribulation.

The Bible tells us that Satan the Devil has deceived the entire world, both politically and religiously (Rev. 12:9).

But the ones Satan can’t deceive are the very elect (chosen ones), these are God’s people who cry out to God for help day and night in prayer. And since he can’t deceive them, he persecutes them, not directly, but through human agencies, and especially through his human instrumentality of religion.

“The devil is come down unto you, having great wrath because he knows that he hath but a short time” (Rev. 12:12). Satan is absolutely furious with us – 6,000 years of deception is almost up, and he knows it. His great wrath is against whom?

“The dragon was wroth with the woman (a symbol of the true Church of God) and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 12:17).

Now does Satan personally make this war against the saints? “I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea. And the dragon gave him his power and his seat, and great authority. (v. 7) “And it was given unto him (the beast power) to make war with the saints and to overcome them.”

But notice the human agency which persecutes the martyrs of Jesus Christ. “I saw”, wrote John,” the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus” (Rev. 17:6).

Here is another woman, a fallen woman, a great harlot. This religious power has a relationship with the “kings of the earth, which reigns over the kings of the earth and uses them as her tools” (Rev. 17:2, 18).

This false religious power refuses to obey God’s laws, this system goes about to establish its own righteousness.

This fallen woman becomes infuriated, suffers from a feeling of self-condemnation, when it sees the righteousness of God manifested in God’s true Church. This fallen woman resorts to persecution in order to destroy the righteous. It deceives itself into believing it serves God by persecution, torturing and sentencing to death God’s people.

This whole western world is being deceived by Satan with a pretense of religion. Satan is going to stir up this religious guilt-complex into another great martyrdom of saints, called prophetically the Great Tribulation.

Remember, now that Jesus Christ has given us the time sequence of events which lead up to the Great Tribulation – Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21

Following false teachers, proclaiming a false gospel, would be wars, famines, and pestilences. These events have already once been fulfilled during the Middle Ages, but that fulfillment was merely a forerunner of the present fulfillment.

Then what comes next amid this world-wide suffering and hatred against the English-speaking world and against true Christians in particular?

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, for nation shall rise against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilence, and earthquakes – then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you and ye shall be hated of all nations for my names’ sake” (Matt. 24:6-9).

Now, did you notice that Jesus’ own disciples, those who follow Him, “you” are to be delivered up to tribulation and martyrdom? Christ said that it is “for His name’s sake” that nations would hate you, now this could only be referring to believers, not non-believers.

The Great Tribulation is not God’s wrath, but Satan the Devil’s (Rev. 12:12 and he persecutes the church verse 13).

In Matthew 24:29-30 we read that God will supernaturally intervene by supernatural signs in the heaven to cut short the Great Tribulation.

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory”

There has been tribulation before, and there is to be a great one in this present evil generation of which has never been before.

What happens when God intervenes to cut short the tribulation? “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord come” (Joel 2:31).

The Day of the Lord is the time God steps into world affairs directly, and the time of His wrath against those who have persecuted His people.

“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you for yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night” (I Thess. 5:2).

This is not speaking of the coming of Christ, but of the time when God supernaturally intervenes in world affairs shortly before Jesus returns. Read Rev. 6:12, 16-17.

The day of God’s wrath will come unexpectedly – like a thief in the night, just as Satan’s wrath will soon come upon an unsuspecting English-speaking world in which Christians are being lulled to sleep by religious delusions.

The Great Tribulation is not the result of internal religious persecution conducted by the English-speaking world on Christians. It is a result of a foreign invasion, a captivity of our English-speaking people in World War III.

Now the Gentile fascist power that will take us captive will be dominated by a great religious system (the Roman Catholic Church). This religious-political system will persecute our peoples nationally and martyr those Christians who are not accounted worthy to escape the tribulation.

Notice the Moffatt translation of Luke 21:23-24: “For sore anguish will come upon the land and wrath on this people” that is Satan’s wrath on the people of our nations – “they will fall by the edge of the sword, they will be carried prisoners to all nations” – in World War III –“and Jerusalem will be under the heel of the Gentiles till the times of the Gentiles expire.”

It is time we are awakened to what is happening all about us. Jesus Christ prophesied that Christians would be persecuted in a coming Great Tribulation, but He also said there is a way of escape:

“But watch, said Jesus, and pray always that you be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).

Matthew 25 tells us that all ten virgins slept and slumbered, this is speaking spiritually. It is time we opened our eyes to what is coming. Unless we wake up, we, with millions are plunging straight for the most fiendish, diabolical time of torture every instituted by man.

There is only one way to escape: “watch world events and pray constantly.”
