Crime And Sin

How does a person explain the criminal mind? What is the difference between the common person who recognizes he or she hasn’t always done right, and the antisocial lawbreaker, or the criminal.

What is the cause of violence, sexual assault, robbery, vandalism, dishonestly and aggression in human affairs?

Now, if we can explain that, we will know the cause of every evil aspect of human nature, hate, resentment, jealousy, vanity, lust, greed, competition and strife and the desire to harm or degrade another person.

Scientists say there is significant genetic, chromosomal or hormonal difference between criminal and non-criminals. Organic defects, at most account for only a neglible portion of human aggression.

Does poverty lead people to commit crimes? Then how do we explain upper-class and white-collar crime and violence.

Why is it that the sciences of sociology and criminology failed to discover the root causes of criminal behavior and the nature of human nature? One reason and one reason only, they have rejected the source that reveals it.

They are not recognizing or dealing with the important cause of sin and of the criminal. What is the difference between sin and crime?

The apostle John in one of his epistles tells us: “That sin is the transgression of the law” (I John 3:4).

Crime is the violation of man-devised laws, which may or may not include that which God calls sin. Sin and criminal attitudes and behavior have not always existed. There was a define beginning of law-breaking.

Today, how many people do you think believes the Bible?

I John 3:8 tells us: “He who commits sin is of the devil.” The Bible reveals the originator of the first “get rich quick” scheme.

It was a great spirit being, an archangel, whose Latin name, Lucifer, means light bringer. Lucifer wanted top power and riches, and he wanted it the fast way, by taking if from someone else.

Lucifer was put over the earth to administer the Government of God. But he rebelled against his Creator. “Lucifer was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created, till iniquity (or sin) was found in thee” (Ezk. 28:15).

What was the result of his sin? “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will set also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north, I will ascend about the height of the clouds, I will be like the most high” (Isa. 14:12-14).

Lucifer chose the way of competition, the way of conquest. The earth, simply wasn’t enough for him. He saw the vastness of the universe, the unlimited opportunity for power, honor and glory. That is what Lucifer coveted for himself.

Because of his rebellion, his name was changed to Satan, meaning adversary. He ascended to God’s throne over the universe, he planned to kick God off His throne. The Revised Standard Version puts it this way: “I will make myself like the Most High.”

Lucifer would decide for himself what was good and what was evil. Lucifer believe his get ways could produce results quicker, faster and on a grander scale for himself. He rejected God’s way of giving, sharing.

He was the aggressor, he believes in the survival of the fittest. He became the grandfather of an organized criminal syndicate. His criminal mind was able to draw one third of God’s angels to go along with him in his rebellion.

He did it through the subtle defaming of God’s character, purposes and laws. Now, with his perverted attitudes clouded his mind, and he misunderstood and miscalculated the awesome power of God.

Luke 10:18 says: “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” Christ tells us in John 8:44 that Satan was a murderer from the beginning and the father of lies.

He is the father of lies, deceit, trickery, false accusation, hate, rebellion and lust. Of the 7:5 billion people on this earth, how many know of an invisible fallen spirit being, supported by a host of fallen angels, is broadcasting these wrong attitudes throughout the world to the minds unsuspecting humanity?

How many realize- humans in varying degrees have absorbed Satan’s attitudes into their minds?

Some individuals and cultures absorb more than others and there is a reason why! Revelation 12:9 tells us “that Satan has deceived and influenced the whole world.” And yet, today many deny the existence of the very source of evil that has worked to sway their minds into wrong ways of reasoning and feeling.

Take a look at what the Bible says about Satan’s deception: Here the apostle Paul is writing to converted Christians: “Wherein in times past you walked according to the course of this world (Eph. 2:2). They had been spiritually dead, because they were once following “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.”

In other words, Satan can broadcast his evil nature and attitudes through the air and unsuspecting human minds can pick it up, nourish it and develop it as part of human nature.

Verse 3 “Among these (that is children of disobedience) we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”

Just what are the passions of the flesh that comes from yielding or following Satan’s way?  “Adultery, fornication, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying and murders” (Gal. 5:19-21).

These attitudes and acts we just mentioned they are common to criminal and noncriminals alike.

On one hand a person who, though sinning of rebelling against God’s law, rarely will violate the laws of his or her society or culture.

Now, on the other hand we have the hardcore, professional criminal. This person’s wakeful life and thinking revolves around contemplating or committing serious acts regarded as criminal by his society. This type of person does not feel he or she owes allegiance to either the laws of men or God.

But from God’s point of view the thinking of both spectrum lead to spiritual death if unrepented of.

We know that God taught Adam and Eve essential knowledge that they needed. Adam and Eve could eat freely of every tree in the Garden of Eden. God gave them a special warning, “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, don’t eat of that tree, or you will die.”

What God was doing, was giving Adam an opportunity to replace Satan as ruler over the earth. But in chapter three we know Adam and Eve listen to Satan and disobeyed their Creator.

From this point on; human societies developed their own form of religions, social customs and governments to teach and enforce their ideas and values of right and wrong in their culture.

In every society under the sway of Satan, there are by contrast those who decide they will rebel and reject the fundamental law of their culture. They become criminals So criminals follow the pattern of Adam and Eve. They will decide what is right and what is wrong.

Of course, what is good and evil will vary greatly from criminal to criminal just as it will in more law-biding unconverted humans.

In Genesis 4 we read that Cain and Able brought an offering to God. Matthew 23:35 tells us that Able was righteous. He had God’s Holy Spirit. He discipline his mind and character. Able resisted the influence of Satan. He saw a redeeming payment for his sins through a coming Savior. He also knew what happened to his parents and chose to resist similar evil attitude and actions. But Cain let a different attitude, spirit and outlook take root in his mind. To Cain, God’s law and way were too harsh and unfair. God’s promises for living right didn’t appeal to him.

Cain chose not to resist the attitude Satan was pumping into his mind. He soon rose up and killed his brother.

The Bible warns us today to avoid being ‘like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother.”

The good news is that Satan is going to be forcibly thrust from his role of “god of this world.” Jesus Christ is coming to restore the Government of God over the earth. The criminally minded and those who refuse to repent will perish.

The apostle James tells us: “Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7). The apostle Peter tells to “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8).
