If you’ve been around or associated with some “religious” people, you’ll find they use a lot of “spiritual” phraseology. By this, I mean you may hear repetitious words like: “Praise the Lord”, “Hallelujah”, “Amen”, “Thank you Jesus”, etc. Of and by themselves, these expressions are not wrong when used in sincerity and knowledge of what you are saying. But, in certain cases, it is merely “religious” jargon that draws attention to self and to ones religious ideas.
One of the beliefs that I have heard is that we are SAVED BY CHRIST’S BLOOD. But, is this what the Bible teaches? In just a few weeks, we of the Church of God, New World Ministries, will be observing the “Day of Atonement”. The Day of Atonement is one of the seven annual Holy Days listed in the twenty third chapter of the book of Leviticus. Observance of this Day is a true Christian belief and practice. You will hear the members of this Church talking about; “Passover, Days of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day. These expressions would seem “strange” to the ears of many “Christian” church groups, but they constitute DOCTRINAL BELIEFS of God’s True Church. We practice and observe these days, because they reveal God’s Master Plan of Salvation for mankind.
So, do you believe that you are “Saved By The Blood of Christ”?
If you believe what the Bible says your answer to this question would be NO. Turn in your Bible to Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24. Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (atoning sacrifice) through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”
Now, turn to Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us… 8. But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, WE SHALL BE SAVED BY HIS LIFE. 11. And not only so, but we joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement .” Hebrews 9:22 says, “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
Yes, we have been forgiven, justified, reconciled and atoned for, by the shed Blood of Jesus Christ. But the Scriptures make it plain, that we shall be SAVED BY HIS LIFE! It’s not just semantics or a play on words. It will take a LIVING CHRIST, who will return to this earth and SAVE US, by a resurrection into His Kingdom!
