The Book of Revelation speaks of four horsemen that are to ride (spiritually speaking) this earth in the very near future, what do they mean?
The first horse was the white horse that will bring about a massive false deception, preaching a false Christ, and false doctrines. It might even be possible that this white horse will bring a pseudo peace, a condition that Paul describes in I Thess. 5:1-3 “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night, for when they say, peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” Also read Rev. 13:11-14.
In Matthew 24:4-5 Jesus states “that many would come in his name,” notice how Luke wrote of this time. Luke 21:8 “And He said, take heed that you not be deceived, for many will come in My name, saying, I am He and, the time has drawn near, therefore do not go after them.”
Now this deception did not take long, for we read in Gal. 1:6 “I marvel that you are turning so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel.” Paul wasn’t just speaking to this one Church, notice verse 2 “To the Churches of Galatia.”
In Acts 20:28-30 Paul warned the elders of the congregation at Ephesus to beware of false teachers. Near the end of the first century, the apostle John saw a rapid escalation in the heresy and persecution that was plaguing the church. John’s three epistles reveal the mounting tension in the churches, and John was trying to warn the members of the devastating impact of false teaching. Within decades the truth of God was sorely corrupted by false ministers.
Today, those who strive to practice the teachings that Jesus Christ put into His Church are few in comparison to the thousands of churches that call themselves Christians, but are in fact descendants of the counterfeit movement that began in the first century.
God’s called out ones are told in Matt. 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in it, because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way, which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
This white horse will be Satan’s last ditch effort to defeat God’s Church and enslave mankind. II Thess. 2:1-3 “Now brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him we ask; you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come, let no one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come unless a falling away comes first and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition.”
Now what does this son of perdition do? Verse 4 “He will oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God showing himself that he is God.” Verse 9 “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, withal power, signs and lying wonders.”
Does this son of perdition match the description of the figure described in Rev. 13:11-14? Read Isaiah 14:12-15 to see who really wants to sit on God’s throne. This is a description of Satan’s final attempt to engineer a system based on his lying words of deceit and confusion.
I gave a brief description of the white horse because Jesus Christ spoke of a false religion as the precursor to wars and rumors of wars. (The Red Horse.)
Rev. 6:3-4 “When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, come and see, another horse, fiery red, went out, and it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another, and there was given to him a great sword.”
History tells us that there have only been somewhere between 4 or 5 hundred years where there was no wars, out of six thousand years, that doesn’t say much for mankind does it.?In the 20th century alone, approximately 180 million men, women and children were slaughtered because of war.
In the mid 1980’s when Ronald Reagan was president, he said this: “I turn back to the ancient prophets of the Old Testament and the signs foretelling Armageddon, and I find myself wondering if we are the generation that’s going to see it come about.”
World War I was called the “Great War,” the war to end all wars, but it was not to be. The war to end all wars is coming, but will follow a time of global conflict and turmoil unlike anything we have ever seen. Matt. 24:21 tells us that this last world war that is coming will be so bloody and so dangerous and deadly, that if Jesus Christ did not cut it short, no flesh would be left alive.
Most of the time when we study history, history records a pattern of a red horse of war often following the white horse of false religion. For example, there was the 30 year war in Europe during the mid 17th century, following the Protestant Reformation; there was a shift in power among the European States which led to 30 years of carnage from 1618 to 1648.
What happened was the newly emerged Protestants verse the Roman Catholic theology, which led to strange alliances. Catholic France aligned with Protestant Holland to offset the powerful Catholic Hapsburg dynasty, the result, a long war. By the time the balance of power was restored, 8 million lost their lives.
Today, what can we expect to see as the red horse of war rides in the last days? One thing we can do is to take a look at the history of war; this will give us a clue.
First we must understand that war doesn’t bring peace, wars waged in the name of religion have not achieved any religious harmony. Matt. 24:6 “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars, see that you are not troubled, for all these things must come pass, but the end is not yet.” Jesus Christ is telling us that a general condition of warfare would continue throughout human history until Jesus Christ returns. Verse 7 indicates an intensified state of war that will emerged into world war.
James 4:1-3 “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members, you lust and do not have, you murder and covet and cannot obtain, you fight and war, yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss that you may spend it on your pleasures.”
Simply put, wars are caused by human lust for what belongs to other people.
In World War I five million were killed in action, with 3 million civilian casualties. The cost by the allies was 194 billion dollars. In World War II the combined figures for both the allies and the Axis powers was 105 million total mobilized forces of which 15 million were killed in action, 34 million civilians were killed and the total coast 1.6 trillion dollars.
Mankind, in his rebellion against God, likes to present his own version of civilization in the best possible light. In Ezekiel 13:10 (this deals with Israel’s false teachers) “Because, indeed, they have seduced My people saying peace, when there is no peace.” God shows us in Ezekiel 7:23-26 that peace will be elusive to those who forsake His ways. “Make a chain, for the land is filled with crimes of blood, and the city is full of violence, therefore I will bring the worst of the gentiles and they will posses their houses, I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease, and their holy places shall be defiled, destruction comes, they will seek peace, but there shall be none. Disaster will come upon disaster, and rumor upon rumor, then they will seek a vision from a prophet, but the law will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders.”
General Douglas MacArthur stated mankind’s current dilemma when he spoke to Congress in 1951: “We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater or more equitable system Armageddon will be at our door.”
Mankind’s dilemma is that he does not understand God’s Plan for salvation and the Good News of the soon-coming Kingdom of God. Mankind’s destructive capacity has greatly accelerated to the point that we find ourselves at a serious impasse as we near the end of this age.
Now as physical knowledge increases, just what kind of weapons innovations will be implemented within the coming years? Witness a new surveillance satellite called Warfighter I in which the camera on this satellite has a new form of imaging called “hyperspectral.” It can distinguish the subtle light signatures that separate a field of oats from barley and tell you the precise species of oats, and then whether the field contains natural or genetically altered oats. It can also tell if the field is infested with insects or damaged by nitrogen depletion.
It will be able to identify tanks under trees, whether friend or foe tanks covered with camouflage or tanks painted with paint meant to make them not look like tanks. This new technology will be needed with new impending threats involving all types of military operations.
Have you ever heard of “microsatellites? Traditionally most satellites can weigh tons, but this new microsatellites weighs only 200 lbs, and can be launched by the dozens, these new satellites are reprogrammable and can have a variety of functions -- they can go from a peaceful tool to an offensive weapon.
In World War II it took an average of 5,000 bombs to take out a target, like a bridge. By the time of the Vietnam War the ratio had dropped to 500, in the gulf war it was 1in 10. They were called smart bombs. You might say that space-aged technology use in the gulf war was the first space war.
Other weapons that are on the drawing board are: Microwave guns, space-based laser weapons, holographic decoys, suppression clouds, these weapons were to be tested last year.
There is a microwave weapon for ground use and it is expected to be in use very soon. What does it do? This weapon emits an incredible heat blast and could be used to drive back an advancing military force.
What about the “flexible-membrane mirror,” which from space could bounce off a certain frequency from a laser beam in order to light up a night-time battle field on the ground, but only for those with certain types of goggles? What about a solar energy weapon? This weapon would exist in the form of a ten kilometer magnifying glass used to illuminate targets on the ground. This illumination would turn night into day, and if used in the day time could scorch any target on the ground or a satellite 1000 miles away.
The capabilities of the newest weaponry are very frightening, but how much of a difference will they make at this stage of history? From 1993 to 2001, the U.S. illegal alien population increased from 3.5 million to 8 million. Today it has almost tripled, and because of this our security has been compromised and our borders have been infiltrated in virtually every conceivable way.
A little over 50 years ago the hydrogen bomb was invented. This bomb has the potential to erase human life from this planet, and at some point a nuclear weapon will be used. Although man has always been at war, it has never yet approached the scale that Christ predicted by the red horse of Revelation chapter 6, and then magnified in Matthew 24, but with the advent of weapons of mass destruction, we can see why Jesus Christ said if “He did not return no flesh would be left alive.”
Can modern day Israel (America and Britain) with its military might and power, provide a protective shield from our enemies and prevent them from defeating and destroying us? From a military standpoint, military readiness makes sense. But when nations are being corrected by their Creator, it doesn’t make any difference what a nation does, God’s word will stand.
Case in point: God sent a message by Jeremiah to King Jehoiakim, the king cut it up and burned it in the fire, this young king and his cronies were utterly unimpressed and unaffected by this warning from God. Jeremiah 36:29-31 “And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, thus says the Lord: You have burned this scroll, saying, why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and cause man and beast to cease from here, therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night. I will punish him, his family and his servants for their iniquity and I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem and on the men of Judah all the doom that I have pronounced against them, but they did not heed.”
This was God’s tone after Jehoiakim burned the scroll as you can see it was a much harsher tone, but look at verse 3: “It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring on them that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
America’s national character mirrors that of Jehoiakim, arrogance and disdain for any guidance from God or any of His servants. The Hollywood mentality of liberal permissiveness and political correctness which leaves God out of the picture is reflected in television shows, movies, in classrooms and pulpits. The words of a true servant of God would today be ignored and rejected and a candidate for civil punishment and those leading the crusade against God’s true servants would be the leaders of the modern Christian churches. Why do I say this? When Herbert W. Armstrong and his son Garner Ted Armstrong were alive, how did these self-professing Christians treat them -- as cult leaders and weird sects? Not as true servants of Christ.
Notice Jere. 37:9-10 “Thus says the Lord, do not deceive yourselves saying, the Chaldeans will surely depart from us for they will not depart, for though you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, they would rise up, every man in his tent and burn the city with fire.” God is saying, that if He decreed that the Chaldeans were to defeat Jerusalem nothing could prevent this from coming to pass, not even military preparedness.
For more than 60 years in times of peace and prosperity God has warned the modern-day nations of Israel (America and Britain), but to no avail. People have not heeded the warning so war and destruction of America and Britain is coming. If we don’t repent and return to our Great God nothing will stop our nation from being destroyed, no matter how strong we are militarily and how prepared we are for war. America must understand that God exists; and that his word will be fulfilled.
We know that war suppresses and destroys the agricultural production and causes food shortages. Naturally following in the wake of war, hunger and starvation comes disease and epidemics. So on the heels of the red horse comes the black horse. Be sure and read our article on this vital subject. The four horsemen of the Apocalypse are riding now across our great nation. Only Christ can stop them.
