A voice thunders from heaven, it is God speaking, and He is warning you to take drastic action to save your life from imminent destruction! Would you listen very attentively? Would you heed what He had to say, or would you run away like the ancient House of Israel did during the time of Moses? Would you just scoff and disregard God’s warning?
It’s time to wake up to the fact that our nation’s leaders have sinned, as well as our peoples. Our nation has gone against God’s Commandments. Not only have they disobeyed them but they have flushed them down the toilet as nothing but wasted words.
God goes on to say, “You have directly disobeyed the ways leading to right and gracious living and have added your wrong ways of life to the wrong ways of all those who have lived before you. You have stockpiled weapons of mass destruction, chemical and biological weapons. I am a fair God, I am here giving you personally every warning, every opportunity to repent and mend your own individual ways in the short time still available”.
How many realize that God has already spoken to us today? Notice Heb. 1:1-2 “God who at various times and in various ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” The words of God for mankind have been faithfully recorded in the Bible.
God tells us that “all scripture is inspired by God for our instruction and correction.” Therefore, as we read the Bible, God is speaking directly to us and our leaders and our nation.
In the Book of Revelation, it is full of warnings of awesome, catastrophic events that is going to take place on this earth. In the last chapter of this book, Jesus Christ concludes: “Behold, I come quickly; blessed is he that keeps (acts on) the sayings of the prophecy of this book” (v.7).
Today, people like to scoff at Biblical prophecy and even ridicule them. They have no meaning for us today, we are more advanced in our thinking to believe what that old Bible says, is the thought of many.
The world can think what they want, but we, members of God’s Church, must not take prophecies lightly, these prophecies are going to have a tremendous effect on our future!
There is an old saying: “Forewarned is forearmed.” If our leaders and the peoples of our country and members of Gods’ Church would heed these warnings God promises a way of escape from the Great Tribulation.
When we read the prophecies of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 they now take on a special meaning in our 21st century. There is no doubt about it; this world is experiencing the conditions that Christ foretold would precede these great worldwide catastrophes.
The first thing to happen before human suffering begins would be that of false prophets or ministers. “Many shall come in my name; many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many’ (Matt. 24:5, 11). What does God tell us about these ministers? “These ministers who come in Christ’s name transform themselves into apostles of Christ and they give the appearance of men of righteousness” (II Corth. 11:13-15). Verse 15 tells us that these men and women represent Satan the Devil, but how could this be? Rev, 12:9 “Satan has deceived the whole world.”
Jesus Christ also told us that just before His 2nd Coming, that we would hear of wars and rumours of wars, nation shall arise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, famines, pestilence and earthquakes would be extant.
Satan the Devil has spiritually deceived this world, so that means religious deceptions; we are talking about religions that are satanic in their beliefs such as the Muslim’s religion, the religion’s of India, China and of course the false religion of “Christianity”.
These false ministers that Jesus Christ spoke about are preaching a false Christ, and substituting a false gospel in the place of Christ’s true gospel. We are now in the recess between “World War I and World War II, although we are at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is small in comparison to the war that is coming.
Hundreds of millions of people, as the result of famines, disease epidemics and earthquakes and major wars are going to suffer as they never have before. Now remember, Jesus Christ said that these events are only the beginning of sorrows. These four-part beginning of sorrows is also pictured by the first four seals of Revelation, the four horsemen described in chapter 6:1-8.
What about the 5th seal, how is it described in Revelation 6:9-11? To understand this seal we must go back to Matt. 24:9 and Luke 21:12-17. “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake” (Matt. 24:9). “But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prison, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake” (Luke 21:12). This is what John wrote in the last part of Rev. 6:11 “that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”
The point is we need to understand is that the principle of duality applies to many prophecies. There is a former, typical fulfillment and then a final antitypical fulfillment.
The religious persecution and martyrdom spoken of in Matthew and Luke did actually occur, in the typical or preliminary sense. The Roman armies killed tens of thousands of Jews in 70 A.D. and millions more from various nationalities were also tortured and killed by the Roman Catholic Church during the Middles Ages. Rev. 17:6 and 18:24. Many of these were true Christians, and Jesus Christ said more Christians would be killed at the end time. And that is what the apostle John wrote about in Rev. 6:11. This future martyrdom, of which the earlier martyrdom was only a type, will occur just prior to the Day of the Lord.
Luke described what is going to happen to Judah and Jerusalem, the modern day Israel in the Middle East. “Armies will surround Jerusalem, and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:2-24).
This will happen just before the Day of the Lord. This period of the Great Tribulation is Satan’s wrath. “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them, woe to the inhabiters of the earth and the sea for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath(passion, breathing hard) fierceness, indignation” (Rev. 12:12). Fierceness means wild and savage violent in force or intensely. Indignation means a strong displeasure at something considered unjust.
Satan is going to take advantage of what God is going allow him to do. Satan’s wrath will be unleashed upon God’s Church, (Rev. 12:13) then the modern day Israelites, and finally the whole world. Why is Satan going to do this, last part of Rev. 12:12 “for he knows that he has but a short time left?”
Another thing that is going to happen before the Day of the Lord is the downfall of America’s economy. Our nation is being over run by foreigners, and finally being invaded and taken into captivity.
The apostle tells the end time Church “Because you have kept the word of my patience (or the command to preserve) I also will keep you from the hour of temptation (trial) which shall come upon all the world, to try, to test) them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev. 3:10).
We know that there are Christians that have become lukewarm. That means they have lost contact with God, they have become lackadaisical in living the Christian life and not obeying God’s laws. God’s word says if you don’t repent and become zealous for God’s work and overcoming I will spue (spit or vomit) you out of my mouth.
Now what else will occur before the Day of the Lord? “There was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs when she is shaken of a mighty wind” (Rev. 6:12-13).
When does this occur, right after the 5th seal, the killing of God’s people? What happens next? “And the heaven departed as a scroll (the sky split apart) when it is rolled together and every mountain and island were moved out of their place” (compare Mat. 24:30)and Rev. 6:14. All these events are intended to warn the world that God’s wrath upon rebellious mankind is about to begin, God’s wrath is the Day of the Lord. Rev. 6:15-17. “And I will sow wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come” Joel 2:30-31.
Read Zeph. 1:14-18 and Isa. 2:19-21. Why is God allowing this to happen? “The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof because they have transgressed the law, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant” Isa. 24:5. Another reason that God is going to do this is found in Heb. 12:5-8, this talks about God chastening and correcting this world because He loves them.
And yet another reason for God’s punishment is found in I Tim. 2:3-4 “Who will (or desire) to have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9)
As any wise and living father punishes his children for their own good when they refuse to respond to kind and loving verbal admonition, so God, who is all loving and all wise will finally plead with rebellious mankind in the only language mankind will be able to understand.
God is going to punish this world with righteous judgments, with plagues so terrible many will at last recognize that the Great God is dealing with them. Many will heed and turn from their wicked ways to seek God and His law of love.
There are more than 30 different prophecies in the Old and New Testament describing the Day of the Lord, leading right up to the second coming of Jesus Christ and world peace at last. Each and every one of these prophecies reveal “The Prelude to the Day of the Lord.” Will you heed these warnings?
