The scriptures state that we should worship God in spirit and in truth: John 4:23 “But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.”
I want to launch right into our subject to day, because I’m angry about a newspaper article I read a couple of days ago. It exemplifies the main reason of what is wrong with this “present evil world”! I’ll read you excerpts from this article and then show you what God thinks about it: Knoxville News Sentinel, April 28, 2010: “Every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. the theater (Hall’s Cinema 7) --- is transformed into a place of worship called The Grove. --- The Grove is a meeting place where ‘Jesus can pour himself into us,’ according to Scott Sparks, pastor of the newfound church.” (The article continues on, extolling the virtues of the church.)
DOES GOD HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT GROVES?
Deuteronomy 16:21 “You shall not plant thee a GROVE of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou shalt make thee. 22 Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth.” Chapter 7:5 “But thus shalt ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. 6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.”
And remember, we read above in John 4:23, that God “seeks such to worship Him”. Christ also tells us plainly in: John 6:44 “No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: ---”
Yes, WE are the called and chosen of God, by the Grace of God, to do a Work - His Work:
I Corinthians 1:26 “For ye see you calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, ARE CALLED.” Romans 9:14 “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For He saith unto Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion upon whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 18 Therefore hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy and whom He will He hardeneth.”
So these people should be thankful that they, for this present time, are doing these things in ignorance. If they had been those who have been called and chosne - drawn of God- they would be responsible and guilty before God of false religious worship, committing WILLFUL SIN, and BRINGING UPON THEMSELVES THE DEATH PENALTY of Gehenna fire! (Hebrews 10:26, 27)
Thank God for His Truth!!
