Man is the most complex, and truly unique physical mechanism ever designed and made.
With such a marvelous mind and body, it would seem only natural that our Designer and Maker would send along an Instruction Book, a Book that would describe what his product (man) is designed to do.
Well God did send His instruction book and it reveals the missing dimension in knowledge and our incredible human potential.
This book tells us what we are, why we are, where we are going and how to get there; we call this book the Holy Bible.
This Book reveals that God first created angels that are composed of spirit, though lesser than God and lacking in ultimate creative power.
It reveals that the physical universe, including the earth, was next brought into existence and a third of the angels were then placed on this earth.
They were put under the rule of the government of God which was administered on earth by an archangel known as Lucifer. The government of God is in reality the administration of God’s way of outgoing love, spelled out by the Ten Commandments.
So the earth was initially filled with peace and happiness and joy. But ultimately Lucifer led the angels under him into rebellion.
These angels rejected God’s government and it was no longer enforced.
As a result the earth became waste and empty, in confusion and darkness (Gen. 1:2)
At some point in time, God renewed the face of the earth in six literal days (Ps. 104:30)
God then made the flora and the animal life forms, but they were without decision-making processes and without ethical or moral capabilities. These things God gave to man. We are God’s masterpiece of creative workmanship.
God’s instruction book reveals knowledge that is totally beyond man’s ability to discover for himself.
And that includes the knowledge and understanding of what man is, why he was made and ultimately what we are to become.
We know from His instruction book that man is made from the dust of the earth (Gen 2:7) and it was the whole man that was composed of the dust of the earth (Gen 3:19)
God imparted to man physical life, he simply blew into the man’s lungs, through the nostrils, air, “the breath of life”, and man began to live.
When God breathed the breath of life into the nostrils of the first man, he became a living soul. And since man is a soul, and the soul is mortal, then man is mortal, subject to death.
Notice Job 4:17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker?
So when an animal dies, it is dead, when a man dies he is completely dead too. All men and animals alike go to the same place at death. Because we all have the same temporary source of life, air. After death, all men and animals become once again dust.
We know that after Lucifer’s rebellion, along with the angels, God’s government on this earth ceased to exist on this earth.
Later God created Adam with the potential of qualifying to replace Satan as ruler of this earth, with the capability of restoring God’s government and way of life to this earth.
Adam was required to reject Satan to qualify and voluntarily come under the government of God. So God’s master plan for accomplishing his purpose for the human race took form and shape even before man was made.
Adam rejected God’s way thus bringing sin upon all me. The Bible tells us that all have sinned except Jesus Christ.
So God made it possible, through the blood of Jesus Christ, for man to repent, to turn from sinning, to be reconciled back to God and to live God’s way of life, and finally to be born of God as members of his eternal family.
Repentance is turning from the way of Satan to the government of God. It is accepting God’s rule over our lives through his law of love. It is accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and soon coming King – the second Adam who qualified where the first Adam failed.
Christ came to reestablish the government of God on the earth by overcoming Satan. Those who are to reign with Christ must likewise overcome Satan’s way and live by God’s law of love.
If man will continue in God’s love and His way of life, God says he will give them eternal life.
John 3:3-8 Verily, verily I say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (or government of God)
Nicodemus said unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born.
Except a man be born of water and of the Sprit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it comes, and whither it goes, so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Of course, I Corth. 15:42-54 tells us that being born again will come in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump.
The people that refuse to repent and accept Jesus Christ’s sacrifice to pay for their sins, who refuse to turn from Satan’s way, will perish forever. Rev. 20: 14-15: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
But God wants every human being who has ever lived to have the opportunity to repent and live forever. II Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I Tim. 2:4: Who desires to have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Even though this is God’s desire, He will not force anyone to choose life.
The fate of unrepentant sinners is the second death, or eternal death. They will cease to exist forever; they will be as if they had never been
But why did God choose to make man mortal, out of the dust of the earth?
Before God created man, he created angels, not of flesh and blood, but out of spirit, angels are not subject to death.
We know that under Lucifer, a third of the angels rebelled against God’s government and way of life, as Peter said; they sinned. But the punishment for sinning angels isn’t death. The punishment for these sinning angels will last for eternity.
The sins of angels have resulted in eternal hopelessness and frustration, their minds being filled with resentment and evil. Happiness and joy have left them forever. They have become demons and minions under Satan’s sway!
But as for man, God planned in advance that if man, which is composed of matter, sinned and refused to repent, he would die and would be as though he had never been.
Again, repentance is turning from the way of Satan to the government of God. It is accepting God’s rule over our lives through his law of love. It is accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and soon coming King.
Jesus Christ, the second Adam, qualified to reestablish the government of God by overcoming Satan, those who are to reign with Christ must do likewise, they must reject Satan’s way and actually live by God’s law of love.
For all those who refuse to follow God’s way to eternal life, there will be the second death, the fate of unrepentant sinners. Rom. 6:23: the wages of sin is death. The second death: Rev. 20:14-15 and Mal. 4:1-3.
God will not allow any incorrigible human being to live forever in mental anguish and torment like the fallen angels.
When called by God and made to realize that he has sinned, man can repent, turn from his sin to God’s way.
With God’s help, we humans can pursue a life of obedience to God. We can grow in spiritual knowledge and develop God’s character; we can overcome wrong habits, weaknesses, and faults.
And the fascinating thing about all of this, it must all be done through the free will and choice of each human mind.
Of all of God’s physical creatures, man has the ability to think, reason, plan and design, come to conclusions, based on acquired knowledge.
Animals cannot comprehend the concepts of good and evil. They can not repent.
What could account for the vast differences between the mind of man and that of animals? Animals are created with instinct, while man’s mind has creative reasoning powers of intellect.
When God molded Adam out of the dust of the ground, Adam was made in the likeness, that is the outward form and shape of God Himself.
God didn’t make any of the other creatures to be a clay copy of Himself. That is because man was created with the potential to become God!
Each animal was created with a brain suited for its particular animal kind. But animals do not have the potential of mind and character that God gave only to man. That is why, of all creatures God created, man is unique. Only man has the incredible human potential to become members of the very Family of God!
