Greetings to all of you, my brethren and sisters in Christ! Are you keeping up with all the strange happenings that are being reported on planet earth lately? THOUSANDS OF SQUARE MILES of once natural, beautiful, scenic lands,( much of it enhanced by beautiful, expensive homes; with landscaping and gorgeous swimming pools, are being totally destroyed by raging forest fires? On top of that, unheard of floods, wiping out whole townships; plus, “sinkholes” opening up and swallowing up buildings, autos and large sections of roadway!
And in other parts of the world: "Meteorites" passing close enough to planet earth (one in Russia), to cause alarm and damage to certain areas.
Where have we heard of these unusual and strange events?
It seems that I remember reading about these types of things in a book called the Bible!!
Could This Ancient, Archaic BOOK have anything to do with our modern world and society today?
IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH LIFE ITSELF!
False religions have decieved this whole world so completely the no noe has the answers as to what is soon to occur except God’s one true church! (Matt. 16:18)
Rev. 12:9“And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, WHICH DECEIVETH THE WHOLE WORLD; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong, one of the great leaders of God’s Church in these latter days, taught what the Bible teaches, about this subject, in an issue of the “The Good News” magazine, over thirty years ago.
“A promised time of peace and prosperity is just around the corner! Christ will soon begin His reign with the resurrected Saints ruling with Him. But, WHERE shall they rule? In Heaven? Or on earth? And, over WHOM shall they reign? I hope this article will answer these questions about The New World to come! There are two or three versions taught about going to heaven at Christ’s coming. One version held by millions of Protestants teaches that Christ is coming twice.
They teach that his next coming is “for His saints”, to take them to heaven for three and a half years. Some others say for one year and then Christ comes again, with His saints.
What these saints do in heaven in that one or three and a half years does not seem to be taught --- or why they go to heaven, or why they come back to earth.
Another teaching is called, “The Investigative Judgment” doctrine --- one of four principal
doctrines of a denomination. This doctrine teaches that all unsaved people shall be destroyed by the “brightness of Christ’s coming”, but the saints shall be caught up with Christ and go to heaven for the 1,000 years. There they will be busy going over books. These books will contain the life history of all people who have lived, carefully examining their every act, and judging them --- even though they are already dead. Then, with this arduous task over, they will return to earth with Christ at His third coming. Why they return to earth or what they do here apparently is not known.
But WHAT DOES THE WORD OF GOD SAY?
Rev. 20:4“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”
Rev.5:9“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
The FACTS of the resurrection and the Second Coming of Christ are found in other places of the Bible:
I Thes. 4:14“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him, 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the lord. "
I Cor. 15:50“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold I show ye a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
YES, VICTORY IN DEATH!
The dead in Christ are resurrected and the living in Christ are changed: and all are caught up to MEET the Lord in the clouds (in the air of the earth’s atmosphere).
WHERE DO WE GO FROM THERE?
Now, in order to reign, these saints must have someone to reign OVER; to rule is to RULE OVER. A KING REIGNS OVER HIS SUBJECTS. The subjects are always of inferior station and power to the king. The king is in authority OVER his subjects.
And so, whether in heaven or on earth, there will have to be someone of INFERIOR RANK --- of LOWER POSITION---over whom the saints shall have POWER AND AUTHORITY! Now over WHOM will the immortal saints reign? And WHERE will they reign?
Rev. 3: 21“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne.”
Jesus spoke these words. He says that He is, at this time, sitting in WHOSE throne? ---Notice it ---He says "as I ---am set down with my FATHER in His throne."
The Father’s throne is in heaven. The heavens have received Jesus UNTIL the times of restitution of all things (Acts 3:21). During this age, He is sitting on His FATHER’S THRONE.
And His FATHER’S THRONE IS IN HEAVEN, as the Scriptures plainly state: (Jn. 3:13).
ARE THERE TWO THRONES IN HEAVEN?
YES, AT THIS TIME! But WHERE will Jesus’ THRONE be when He LEAVES His FATHER’S THRONE --- when the time of restitution of all things comes --- and when He sits on HIS OWN THRONE?
He does NOT SAY that the saints shall sit with Him on the Father’s throne in heaven. He says they shall sit with Him in HIS THRONE. Will HIS THRONE, too, be in heaven?
Will there be TWO THRONES in heaven? Will Jesus have a throne there, competing with the Father?
A kingdom, with two thrones, is a kingdom divided; and Jesus said a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Jesus is not, at this time, sitting on His own throne, but on His FATHER’S THRONE, reigning WITH His Father in exactly the same manner, as the saints shall sit WITH Him, on His Throne, reigning WITH Him.
WHERE, THEN, WILL His Throne be?
We find the answer in: Luke 1:30“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for you have found favor with God. 31 And, Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto Him THE THRONE OF HIS FATHER DAVID: 33 And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.”
David’s Throne is ON THE EARTH!
Jeremiah23:5“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name whereby He shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, the LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
8 But, the LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I have driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land."
WHY HAS GOD ALLOWED SUCH PUNISHMENT TO FALL UPON HIS PEOPLE, JUST BEFORE CHRIST’S RETURN TO CLAIM HIS THRONE AND TO RESCUE THEM? Verse 10 “For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their course is not right. 13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophecy in Baal, and cause my people Israel to err. 14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; THEY ARE ALL OF THEM AS Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. 20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until He hath executed, and till He hath performed the thoughts of His heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.”
HOW WILL JESUS RETURN TO EARTH?
Acts 1:9“And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, SHALL SO COME IN LIKE MANNER as ye have seen Him go into heaven.”
We know that He will return at the close of this age, just prior to the battle at Jerusalem that climaxes this world’s defiance of God’s rule. His coming is described in: Rev. 19:12“ His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and a name written, that no man knew, but He himself. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed Him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”
All nations are gathered against Jerusalem for this great battle, their armies having been assembled at Armageddon (Read Revelation Chapters 16 through19). Christ defeats those gathered to fight against him and then returns to this earth where he will reign for ever and ever. GOD SPEED THAT DAY!
