What Does The Feast Of Trumpets Mean?

In Leviticus 23:23-24 we read this: “And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, speak unto the children of Israel, saying, in the 7th month in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.”

The Feast of Trumpets pictures the singular most important event in world history, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!

Notice Revelation 10:1-6, “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

“And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth. And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voice.”

“And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, seal up these things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth: lifted up his hand to heaven.”

“And swear by him that lives for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer.”

Now, just think of what you just read, God the Father in a very few years will send the Living Jesus Christ again, not as a baby, but a very powerful Christ to save mankind from nuclear, biological and chemical mass destruction.

Christ is coming back to end human misery and suffering and to put a stop to war: Christ is going to usher in peace (lasting peace), happiness and joy for all mankind. Christ is coming to rule and judge all nations and to usher in the happy peaceful New World.

Six thousand years ago, Adam and Eve rejected God as their God, so God has allowed us humans to reap the consequences of going our own way, and the world you see around you is what we have created. The human race has become a by-product of our educational system; we have become so smart that we are now able to destroy all life from this planet many times over. And unless Jesus Christ returns to restore God’s government that is exactly what is going to happen!

Now, as members of God’s one true Church, we know that God has a 7,000-year Maser Plan for salvation (That is something this world knows nothing about. If you would like to learn more about this Plan enroll today in our new series “God’s Master Plan”)

The first 6,000 years God has allotted to man to do as he will and during these first 6,000 years of civilization it has been developed the way of Satan; and at Christ’s return he will end Satan’s rule and a new civilization based on God’s law will grip this earth.

What modern Christianity doesn’t understand, is that heaven is not the reward of the saved, but that God uses the spring and autumn agricultural harvest in Palestine as symbolic types of His spiritual harvest of mankind?

Passover begins His annual festivals; Christ’s sacrifice makes it possible for the Firstfruits to be forgiven of their sins.

Unleavened Bread, pictures the continual need for God’s people, the Firstfruits, to put out the leaven of sin from their lives and to obey God.

Pentecost, the final spring festival, is observed as a memorial of God’s sending forth, first, His law at Sinai and, later, His Holy Spirit at Jerusalem (Acts the 2nd chapter) to spiritually beget and to strengthen the Firstfruits and His salvation.

But the Firstfruits will not be reaped into God’s Family until they are born again; resurrected and changed into spirit. That will not occur until Christ comes again, and that brings us to the next festival.

The Feast of Trumpets is in a sense the focal point of God’s Plan. It not only pictures the terrible time of misery and war to befall this generation but, it pictures Christ to save the living from annihilation, and to resurrect the Firstfruits from the dead.

Jesus Christ’s return will be announced by the last trumpet, and will usher in the Millennium, the 1,000-year period when he and the resurrected saints will rule on this earth. Then will begin the great spiritual harvest into God’s Family.

In Luke 21:36 Christ tells us (the Church) “Watch you therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man (the return of Christ.)

Exactly, what are we to watch for so that we will not be confused or caught off guard?

  1. Watch for wars, big wars, little wars, and ethnic wars, wars of all sorts, and escalating violence and increasing lawlessness.

  2. Matthew 24:22, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the chosen ones those days shall be shortened.”  This verse is a prophetic qualifier which points to only our time of high technology and its weapons of mass destruction.

A magnetic impulse bomb attached to a nuclear bomb and exploded around 200 miles above the United States of America would cripple this nation that it could not recover. Thousands would die from starvation and disease.

  3. massive drought and famine, the lack of rain and lack of food will stalk the earth on a grand scale never seen before:

“And when he had opened the 3rd seal, I heard the third beast say, come and see, and I beheld, and lo a black horse: and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” (Rev. 6:5-6).

Worldwide famines will engender vicious competition and strife among nations over food.

Today, our supermarkets are full of food, but the day is coming when the pain of empty stomachs will occur in the United States of America. But why is famine coming to this land, after all (despite what Obama says), aren’t we a Christian nation?

I Kings 8:35-36 tells us why: “When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned (I John 3:4 tells us what sin is) against thee: if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin when thou afflictest them.

“Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants and of thy people Israel (Britain and America today), that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and gives rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.”

  4. Earthquakes and other natural disasters, before the return of Jesus Christ.

“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in various places, and there shall be famines and troubles. These are the beginning of birth pangs” (Mark 13:8).

In the past several hundred years millions have died from earthquakes.

A former expert on earthquakes wrote in the Los Angeles Times:  “It is dangerous arrogance for any of us, wherever we live to assume the problem is isolated to any particular region. The Eastern Seaboard is in more danger than the West, because the East is unprepared with building standards far less stringent than the West.”

Why earthquakes? “Thou shalt be punished by the Lord of hosts with thunder and with earthquakes, and great noise, with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” (Isa. 29:6).

“Wherefore the Lord said, for as much as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.”

“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob (Israel) are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6).

Now what we read in Isa. 19:6 did happen; God did punish ancient Jerusalem with earthquakes and storms and he will punish modern Israel (Britain and American) the same way.

The earthquakes specifically mentioned by Christ as a foreshadowing sign of His return will probably be unusual by their location or magnitude.

  5. Disease Epidemics. “And when he had opened the 4th seal, I heard the voice of the 4th beast say, come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with wild animals of the earth” (Rev. 6:7-8).

The Greek word for pale is chloros, this word signified the pale-green or sickly yellow-greenish color of severe disease. This is another sign that Jesus’ return is very near.

  6. The European Union seeks global primacy: “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his head the name of blasphemy” (Rev. 13:1-9)

    (v. 4) And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast. (v. 5) and there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue 42 months.”

    (v. 7) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues and nations. (v.8) and all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names were not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

Seven heads represent 7 distinct revivals of the evil empire over a long period of time.  These 10 horns represent 10 lesser nations that will make up this ungodly federation that will first, fight against God’s saints and also will fight against the returning Jesus Christ.

One of the major characteristic of this federation union described in the Bible as Babylon the Great is material goods. Wealth will abound for those who cooperate and submit to Babylon. Humans will become seduced by the golden calf of pleasure and materialism.

  7.     Look for a powerful religious figure, one of the definite signs that Christ’s return is near is the arrival of a great false religious leader called in the Bible as the false prophet. He will sit astride the end-time beast. This political union  is called, “The lady of kingdoms,” because it has a fornicating political relationship, and actually rules over a number of different kingdoms or governments, of this world (Isa. 47:5)

  8. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is preached to all the world. This gospel message, which contains a witness and warning, will not sit well with the beast and the false prophet.

Because of this message God’s true Church will be hated, but before they can hate us, they must first hear it: “But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prison, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake” (Luke 21:12).

  9. The abomination of desolation: “When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet stand in the holy place (whoso reads, let him understand). Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains. Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house” (Matt. 24:15-20). You can read the rest for yourself.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people around about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem: (Zech 12:2).

Just before the 2nd coming of Christ look for the decline and eventual conquest of the United States and England. In other words the time of Jacobs’s trouble, the Great Tribulation.

In the Book of Revelation in chapter 8 we read of the Feast of Trumpets. This feast is God’s wrath upon this world because of our individual and national sins. You can read all about this in Revelation 11:15-19; Revelation 19:11-16.

Finally turn to the Book of Nehemiah: “And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the plaza that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the Law of Moses which the Lord had commanded to Israel.

“And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding upon the first day of the seventh month (the Feast of Trumpets).

Verses 9-10, “And Nehemiah which is the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people. This day is holy unto the Lord your God, mourn not, nor weep, for all the people wept when they heard the words of the law. Then he said unto them, go your way, eat the fat and drink the sweet for this day is holy unto your Lord, neither be you sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:1-2, 9-10).

We in God’s Church today, should rejoice on the Feast of Trumpets, because we look forward to the return of Jesus Christ when we shall be made immortal and will rule and reign with Christ .Then there shall be peace, happiness and joy worldwide. May God speed that day!
