Difficult Scriptures

Matthew 16:27-28 - If people are asleep until the return of Jesus what was going on at the mount of transfiguration?

If you read Matthew 16:27-28 you see that Christ promised some there with him (Peter, James and John) that they would not die until they saw Christ in His Kingdom.

Christ kept His word. He revealed His Kingdom to them in a “vision,” notice Matthew verse 9 of chapter 17. Christ showed, in a vision, how He would look in His soon coming Kingdom. (Rev. 1:13-16). Moses and Elias were not resurrected but were simply manifestations of the vision. Moses represented the law being taught in the Kingdom and Elias represented the teachings of the prophets being taught in the Kingdom.

Remember, the scriptures cannot be broken. (John 10:35). They do not contradict themselves. When Christ said no man has ascended into the heavens he meant it. (John 3:13). Moses and Elias (Elijah) are both dead awaiting the resurrection, just as all those who have died in Christ are dead and awaiting a better resurrection. (Heb. 11:13; 35).
