Monthly Letter - May-June 2010

May - June 2010

Greetings Everyone,

Shortly after John the Baptist was put in prison Christ came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God. (Mark 1:14). With the exception of the few mentioned in Hebrews the eleventh chapter, no one understood the gospel before that. The gospel references the soon coming Kingdom of God. (verse 15). Christ called his disciples and taught them for 3 1/2 years about the good news (gospel) of the Kingdom of God.

After His death and resurrection, Christ, just before ascending to His Father, assembled the eleven remaining disciples on a mountainside in Galilee and gave them a commission. Notice Matthew 28:18-20. “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Spirit): Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Mark explains that the commission Christ gave them was to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). That commission was not just for the apostles. It was for God’s Church throughout the ages. Notice verse 20 of Matthew 28, “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” The Greek word for world is aion meaning age. Christ will be with us until the end of this present age.

For further proof turn to Matthew 10 and read verses 1-23. Notice that in this passage Christ sends the twelve out to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He gives them their charge to preach “the kingdom of heaven (of God) is at hand”. This is the gospel. The good news of God’s Kingdom. But notice as you continue reading, his words become more of a prophecy than just for the twelve. Though the disciples all faced persecution and ultimately death, Christ was speaking of our time. Notice verse 22, “but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” And again in verse 23, “...I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the son of man be come.”

And finally, turn to Matthew 24:14. “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Yes, my friends, the gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all the world prior to Christ’s coming. And who is preaching this gospel? The answer is, God’s True Church! Godís True Church was commissioned by Christ himself to preach the gospel in all the world.

Many of you may not realize that God’s Church suffered a tremendous setback several years ago after Herbert W. Armstrong passed away. Those who took over the leadership deviated from the true gospel and began preaching another gospel. (Gal. 1:6). They began introducing “Traditional Christian Doctrines” into God’s Church. As a result many left the Worldwide Church of God and as a result many splinter groups materialized. The Church of God New World Ministries is one of those splinter groups that continue to preach the truth of God. We have continued to preach the gospel of the kingdom as we were commissioned to do.

If you are listening to the program over WITA would you please send us an e-mail ad let us know. (click here to send us an e-mail and let us know)

We do not claim to be the only Church of God preaching the gospel. Sadly enough God’s Church is presently divided into many groups. I pray that each of the many other groups will do their part in preaching the gospel. We are certainly trying to do ours. However, the time is coming when there will be a famine of the word. (Amos 8:11-12). Christ said we would not have gone over the cities of Israel before He comes. Time is short! Events are escalating around the world. We must get the work done Christ commissioned us to do.

Thank you all for your continued support. Without your prayers and support we could not continue this work.

Sincerely,
George Trent
