Letter from the President - September 2019

September 2019

Greetings Everyone,

It seems that people will believe almost anything today. Some seem to have lost the ability to reason . To think things through to a logical conclusion. For instance, how can a reasonable person, who claims to be a Christian, believe in the concept of evolution? A true Christian would believe the word of God as being true. The final say on a subject. But some can read Genesis 1:26-27, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. "Continuing on in Gen. 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul,” and still believe that man came into existence by the unproveable means of evolution.

God breathed the “breath of life” into man. And He continues to breathe the breath of life into every human being that is now living, and will live. The Bible says so. So, you see, a “reasonable” person would believe that God is The Creator wouldn’t they?

This same principle applies to so many other beliefs in the Bible. God is a reasonable God and He wants His followers to be reasonable people. Paul admonished the young evangelist, Timothy, to “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). To rightly divide the word of truth one must take all scriptures relative to the topic and see where they fit into God’s Plan of Salvation.

Now, let’s take another “Traditional Belief” among today’s “reasonable Christians” and analyze the scriptures relevant to the subject. The subject—HEAVEN! Today’s “reasonable Christians” believe that upon one’s death the soul wafts its way to heaven and remains there with Christ forever. If the Holy Scriptures, inspired by Jesus Christ Himself, ( 2 Tim. 3:16) say that when you die you go to heaven, the subject would be closed, but alas, the scriptures DO NOT back up this “traditional” belief.

Now, before we proceed, ask yourself if you are willing to “be reasonable” and believe what the Bible says. God is a reasonable God. Everything He does has a purpose and a reason for what He does. How reasonable is it for God to make the following statement, “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven” (John 3:13) when he allegedly receives the souls of all those who have died in heaven and they are dwelling with Him there?

Again, why would Christ say, “The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. “(John 5:25). Christ is explaining that there will be a future resurrection of the dead. But “traditional belief” will have you believe the dead are already in heaven. Christ said He, and He alone, is in heaven (John 3:13).

It gets confusing, doesn’t it? My friends, the belief that the dead go to either heaven or hell is truly not provable from the Bible. What does the Bible really say happens to the dead? God reveals this information to Solomon and we receive the information in the book of Ecclesiastes. Ecclesiastes 9:2-3 “All things come alike to all: there is ONE EVENT to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is ONE EVENT unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead” (After they die).

This ONE EVENT is death! Solomon continues in verse 5, “ For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.” Solomon reveals where the dead go when they die. Read it in your own Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:19-20, “ For that which befalleth the sons of men ( death) befalleth beasts: even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.” (in the grave).

There are many other scriptures on this subject and everyone of them are in agreement. Understanding that when we die we go to the grave, turn to dust, and await the resurrection, which we read about in John 5:25. Paul understood the resurrection and was inspired to write about it in his letter to the Corinthians, (I Cor. 15.) Paul was in complete agreement with Christ who spoke of a resurrection (John 5:25) when he wrote, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” Note, Christ said the dead would hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. Paul said, the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible (resurrection). There is no conflict here. Both scriptures agree.

The prophet Job understood this incredible truth also. He wrote in Job 14, verses 13-15, “O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, (the resurrection) and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again (at the resurrection)? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, (sleep in the grave) till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee (at the resurrection): thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.”

God, being a reasonable God, devised a Plan to save mankind from the death penalty. His Plan will be carried out over a period of time, approximately 6,000 years. He appointed that all men would die (Heb. 9:27). When they die they will go to the grave and sleep, or wait, until Christ calls them from the grave. The dead in Christ will be raised from the grave and meet Christ in the air (I Thess 4:13-17). What happens after this is another amazing story. I will write more about this in future letters.

I always conclude these letters by thanking those of you who support this work. You have adhered to Christ’s admonishment to his disciples, “freely ye have received, freely give” (Mat. 10:8). Without your support we could not do this work.

Sincerely,
George Trent
