Letter from the Church - February 2021

February 2021

Greetings Everyone,

Another year has gone and another has arrived, at least according to the Gregorian calendar. However, we know, according to God’s calendar the new year doesn’t really start until spring. (The 14th of March this year)

What will this new year bring? Will it be better than the last or will it only bring more civil unrest and moral decay for us here at home as well as the rest of the world> This past year 40% of all nations on earth were involved in some kind of civil unrest including terrorism, civil war, political instability, criminal violence and territorial disputes which have cost millions of lives and displaced millions of people around the globe from Mexico to the South China Sea.

On top of that all these events have been compounded by the COVID-19 virus disrupting food production and trade. The executive director of the United Nations World Food Program, an organization that has been on the front lines of the world’s crises fighting hunger and famine since 1962 said that right now they’re taking on their largest scale-up ever in response to COVID-19. They have said that if we don’t prepare now to secure access, avoid funding shortfalls and the disruptions to trade, we could be facing multile famines of Biblical proportions within a very short time.

All seemed to be going well. The economy was in full swing, the unemployment rate was the lowest in decades. Then along came COVID-19 shutting down thousands of businesses and jobs, disrupting food production and distribution worldwide. And although the economy is still considered to be good we are now beginning to see a downward swing. Fuel prices are starting to rise and food prices are the highest they have ever been.

Then on May 25th a white Minneapolis police officer killed a black man and it set in motion racial tensions not seen since the civil rights era. Violent protests ensued, small businesses were looted and some destroyed altogether never to recuperate. In Minneapolis alone almost 150 buildings were set on fire—completely destroying some. Cars and anything else that would burn were set ablaze in the streets. The cost? Two billions dollars!

Not to mention the unrelated wildfires in California, up the coast to Washington State and in Colorado destroying over 10 million acres adding another 9.5 billion dollars worth of damage. All this should strike a chord with the prophecy Isaiah gives in Isaiah 1:7 of what’s coming on a larger scale. “Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers” Also in verse 9 he gives another dire prediction unless the Lord should save a few of us we would be completely destroyed as Sodom and Gomorrah.

So what picture does all this civil and racial tension, here at home and around the globe, paint? It paints the picture as described in Romans 8:22 “For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now”. People around the earth are looking for some kind of stability and prosperity in their lives setting the world stage for some charismatic leader to come along and gain power, approved by the people, and backed by the largest so called “religious” organization on earth—the Roman Catholic Church, promising them the hope they so long for.

Much like Adolf Hitler did in post WWI.

This organization is called by God “The Beast” and he may make their lives better for a little while, as Adolf Hitler did for the German people, until he gains complete control and his true character is revealed. But let us not forget there is a happy ending for those of us who endure until the end. It is found in Romans 8:19. “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed”. Verse 22: “we know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only they, but we ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.” For in this hope we are saved.

This whole world hopes for peace and prosperity but it can never be brought about by man. And it will have peace and prosperity but only at the second coming of the one who created it. The one whose “name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isa 9:6).

Let us pray for the hastening of that day.

Respectfully yours and may God bless you:

Arden Taylor
