Letter from the Church - September 2022

September 2022
As I write this letter I wish there were some great positive development or attribute to discuss concerning our beloved nation. However, as we look around us we see there’s not much positive to discuss. Our nation continues to sink into the abyss brought on by the rejection of God and our deluded, incompetent leadership who are out only to line their own pockets at the expense of those they govern. They are nothing more than political criminals and mobsters who owe the syndicated gangsters of the 1920’s and 1930’s an apology having hijacked our constitution for their own political gain and power. They have turned our southern border over to drug cartels and human traffickers. At the time of this writing almost two million illegal immigrants have entered our nation this year with four more months to go and tons of illicit drugs pouring into our country. The Lord describes the character of these so-called leaders in the book of Isaiah, chapter 1 verse 23:
“Your princes [civil leaders or politicians] are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards: they do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come unto them.” (NKJV)
Have you ever seen a poor politician? Especially those who have made it their lifelong career. Most own two or three houses and live a sumpotuous life all at the expense of the people they are supposed to be governing. They receive bribes from other nations through influence pedaling and fraudulent schemes.
In the book of Micah the Lord continues on with this thought, telling us metaphorically, in verse one, that in the end time (which would seem to be very near) that the righteous will be few in number as the gleanings of the vineyard. He tells us the overall corruption of his people and the world at that time. That the godly, merciful and honest have been swept from the land and there is none upright among men—that they lie in wait to shed blood like hunters driving the prey into a preset snare and the best of them is like a brier or a thorned hedge. Thorns and briers, or course, are only good for poking, gouging, and making us bleed.
He goes on to say that at this time you will no longer be able to trust your friends or put any confidence in your guides [civil leaders and politicians] and should be careful of what you say to the one who lies in your embrace [your spouse]. Also the son will dishonor the father, the daughter will revolt against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her monther-in-law - a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. We already see this happening at an alarming rate. My friends, this is where we have come to as a people who attempt to govern themselves without God.
The Lord tells us in Isaiah 3:12 and 9:16 how we have gotten here: “As for my people, children are their opressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead you cause you to err, and destrtoy the way of your paths.” “For the leaders of the people cause them to err; and they that are led by them are destroyed.”
We in the church may have no choice but to live under the conditions these people have laid upon us, but we certainly don’t have to live like them. So what is it that God requires of us? God wants his people to lead lives that reflect moral and ethical standards. Through Christ’s death on the cross, not our good works, God graciously saves us from the penalty of sin (Eph 2:4-5, 8-9). But that’s not the end of the story. God saves us that we might do charitable deeds that exhibit His character. (Eph 2:10) He wants us to treat others fairly and compassionately; He wants us to live humble, obedient lives.
In the time of the prophet Micah the lives of God’s people, same as today, failed to reflect God’s high standards. God had delivered the Israelites from Egypt and established them as a nation. He had called them to be a model society that would attract other nations to Him (Deu 4:5-6) Instead they exploited the poor and pursued their own interests - just like today.
Despite their crimes, the Israelites thought their sacrifices kept them in good favor with God. That thought still persists today. Many people think that they can live like the devil, exploit their fellow human beings all week long, then go to their “mass” or church on Sunday and they are then OK with God. Micah attacked their faulty thinking showing us that empty rituals mean nothing to God. This is the same reason for which Jesus rebuked the Pharisees. He called them blind guides and hypocrites. (Mat 15:7, 23:16) However God wants us to lead lives of genuine ethical and moral integrity (Mic 6:8) Let us in the church strive to do just that.
Many have been inquiring about the Feast of Tabernacles for this year. “Is the Church of God New World Ministries going to have a Feast this year?” Yes, we are!
It will be held in Bristol, Virginia (the birthplace of country music) in the Courtyard by Marriott Motel’s conference room. To make reservations call the Courtyard directly at (276) 591-4400. Please tell them you are with the church to receive the discounted room rate
Directions are simple. Those of you coming from the south, take exit 7 off I-81, turn left under the interstate, go to the first light and take a left on Lindin St. Those of you coming from the north take exit 7 off I-81 then make a right. Go to the first light and take a left on Lindin St.
There is lots to share with your church family in Bristol. Historic downtown Bristol is the only place in the nation where you can be in two states at the same time as the Virginia/Tennessee state line runs right through the middle of the man street (State street)
Visit the birthplace of country music museum and the many other regional museums.
There are many caverns and caves to explore, golfing, fishing, art galleries, distilleries, a whole host of dining facilities and recreational parks to visit.
Please visit the Feast Information Page for more detailed information.
Come to the feast, enjoy the many things to do with familiar brethren and make new friends, relax and enjoy the Feast’s depiction of the coming Kingdom of God.
Hope to see you there!
Respectfully yours:
Arden Taylor
